R. C. Sproul’s Message at the “Together for the Gospel” Conference

rcI mentioned Sunday about the powerful message by R. C. Sproul on the curse motif of the cross of Christ, which myself and others were blessed by God to hear at last week’s Together for the Gospel conference in Louisville, Kentucky. Here is the link.

That message is available for streaming audio or MP3 download on the T4G conference website, and I wanted to direct all those who were interested to avail themselves of these resources. In addition to Sproul’s message, I was also very challenged by John Piper’s message, and reminded again of our great need of a Savior by MacArthur’s treatment of our condition in sin.

Be blessed.

Turning the Words of Scripture into the Wings of your Prayers

There’s another great conference to be aware of. Bethlehem Bible Church church bgin West Boylston, MA hosts two conferences every year. (Some of you women may remember when Kim Abendroth spoke at one of CCC’s women’s retreats; Kim’s husband pastors at BBC.) BBC is 2.5 hrs from us.

BBC’s Spring conference features Donald Whitney teaching on praying through Scripture and biblical meditation. The conference is titled, “Turning the Words of Scripture into the Wings of Your Prayers.”

About the conference
In begins on Friday, April 25 at 7pm. It goes through Sunday, April 26 at noon. You wouldn’t have to stay for the whole thing (BBC knows this creates a dilemma for folks outside their own church). You could just go for the Saturday sessions – I did that one year.

The cost is $20 for one person, $30 for two, and $45 for a family. Register from their website. Get a free book if you register by the 15th!

More about Don Whitney
tenquestionsDonald Whitney has written some fantastic books. I have particularly enjoyed Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life, Ten Questions to Diagnose Your Spiritual Health, and Spiritual Disciplines within the Church. We have these books in our church library, and we even have a couple of his books on the book table in the church foyer right now.

In the “links” section of our website, we’ve recommended Whitney’s website. It’s called The Center for Biblical Spirituality. Here are a few articles that I’ve found to be helpful:

Also, you can read from a bunch of sample chapters from his books. It’s a great resource!

A conference on “Pursuing God” that you should go to

pursuing god ecfI mentioned a while back – before one of my sermons – that there is a great conference coming up in Rochester, NY…only 6 hours away.

Mark the dates: Friday & Saturday, April 18-19.

The theme of the conference is “Pursuing God.”

It’s inexpensive! Registration for an individual is only $15. It’s $20 for a couple and $25 for a family.

It is quite an opportunity to hear from two great men: Jerry Bridges and Phil Johnson.

jerry bridgesYou probably know who Jerry Bridges is. He is a long time staff member at The Navigators Collegiate Ministry, and he has written a bunch of awesome books such as The Pursuit of Holiness, The Practice of Godliness, The Joy of Fearing God, and The Gospel for Real Life. They are all classics.

phil johnsonYou may not be as familiar with Phil Johnson. That’s too bad – he’s a very gifted theology and teacher. He is one of my favorite theologians. And, he is a former pastor of mine.

He started and runs www. Spurgeon.org. Also, he is the chief blogger over at Pyromaniacs (www.teampyro.blogspot.com).

He is the executive director of Grace to You, the teaching ministry of John MacArthur.

So, what are you waiting for? Go register! Call Melony at the church (or email her) if you are interested in going with a group from CCC.
